we just came back from india (June end) to SFO
At primary area the officer just saw AP, scanned passports, checked something in the computer and sent us to secondary area.
At secondary inspection just submitted APs(all copies),passport. After 45 mins they called us
returned the passport, I-94, and one original AP all stamped
If you are married and your wife is coming alone make sure she has all original copies of AP
We came from ahmedabad, and the immigration officer knew about AP so was smooth, but can be a real headache if airline guys are unaware of it (headache means time consuming).

I have a thought, right now the housing industry is slowing down, The new home sales have dropped signinficantly last month.
We all know that Indians and Chinese are very good savers and have significant amount of their salary saved. Normally Indians and Chinese do not commit to buy a home when their GC is in process. They wait for a GC to be approved and buy a house only after they get their GC.
SO CAN WE TAP INTO THE LOBBYISTS FROM THE HOUSING INDUSTRY??
My thesis is one of the MAIN reasons in the new homes slow down is that people are waiting either at labor stage in BEC or in stage 3 for priority date for GC to be approved to buy houses.
We are talking about well educated well paid immigrants who have a very good discipline of saving and will definitely become home owners if GC is approved faster.
SO CAN WE CONVINCE THE HOUSING INDUSTRY LOBBYISTS TO FUND OUR LOBBYING OR USE THEIR RESOURCES FOR OUR JUST CAUSES??

One good news and one bad news. According to the AILA, the Conference committee took out both immigration riders from the H.R. 3043. It means that there will be no increase of the H-1B to $5,830. At the same time, there will be no recapture of EB-3 visa numbers for the Schedule A workers through this legislation.

Hi, My wife and I received three emails each regarding 485 approval ("notice mailed welcoming new permanent resident," "CPO ordered," and "approval notice sent") on 9/8. My wife received her "welcome notice" and the card itself within a few days. But I have not received either yet.
1. I know the CPO email says wait 30 days, but given that my wife has already received hers, I suspect that mine was either sent to an incorrect address or there's some other hold up. Anyone else in a similar situation? Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?
2. I guess I can wait 30 days and then apply for a replacement card with an I-90 (for which the current processing time is 3.5 months). How can I travel internationally in the interim? If anyone is aware, please let me know; I am trying to have a plan in place, in case an emergency arises.

Here's a follow up. I just called USCIS to discover the following:
About two years ago, we moved and filed AR-11s. The address in their system shows a mix of old and new for me (whereas the address is right for my dear wife). And my card was sent to this incorrect address. What should happen next is that the card will be returned to them and then get mailed out again, but this time with the correct address. What will happen in reality is anybody's guess.
Updating here in case this is helpful to anyone else.
By now I am so used to having a constant 'green card concern' gnawing on a corner of the mind. We've probably grown so fond of each other over the years that even after 485 approval, it lingers on.

Hi,
I recieved my EAD card recently and noticed that the date of birth on the card is not correct(I filled the application incorrectly the montha day got swapped),can you please suggest on what i have to do to correct the date on the card.
Take infopass and speak with I/O in this regard.I think you will need to refile and pay fees again as it was your mistake on the form.

I belong to Rest of world my category is EB-3 my ETA filed on 02 Jan 2002 and approved on feb 2004 my I-140 approved on april 2004.now my priority date has reached now I would like to ask How long will it take to for further procedure at the embassy and to sheduled my interview get my visa i m not living in USA can u tel me about my issue. Since on 2nd July they said they will reject the AOS application, what if they would have done some rejection during that time, and by the time July filers get their application back, it is after 17th of August. In that circumstance, can you send the AOS application back arguing USCIS's mistake and ask them to take it back after 08/17 and would they take it back politely or reject it again.

Dear All,
Today, one of my Friend�s I-485 got returned from Mail room due to Filing fee missing.
He is 100% sure that he attached 325$+70$ filing fee along with application, he has photocopy too to prove his stand.
He is lucky, that he is re- filing it again, my question is , what happens, if the file get returned due to mail room clerks error . Can we refile again after 17th Aug,2007 ?
What proof we have to make sure that we filed properly, will USCIS honor our proof ( that is photocopy of all the document we retain ) as a proof that we filed properly.

I was on a "Belgium work permit" which had to be renewed each year and was linked to the employer just like the H1. The renewal process itself took a few weeks. Living and working for 5 years or more allows you to become a permanent resident (Please check again since this information is from 2000-2002 and rules may have changed since then). The Belgium work permit allows you to work in that country but you are free to travel across any EU country (France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Luxemborug, Germany etc).
