I have been trying for last 8 weeks non-stop in front of computer and I am not able to even see any open appointment...
WE REALLY NEED TO RAISE HELL ON THIS...
SENDING LETTERS TO CLINTON or may be IV rep team to meet her on this issue...
A lot of guys are stuck and have suffered for no reason...
Can you bring your friend here. If we can add stories from people who suffered, it would add more value.

I am wondering everybody here is throwing stones at small consulting companies, I wonder how these people came to US surely somebody did there H1? right? People are working in big companies HP/Oracle/SAP bla bla.. but I'm sure they are not the ones who brought you guys here. Also the day they'll get their green cards each of these people are going to open similar companies and do the same thing. I stay in an apartment OK. One day my neighbour (living downstairs) was crying with his wife and a small kid. You want to know the reason--NO PAY FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!. All his hard earned money was finished paying rent, OK and his kid was sick. No money, nobody to ask. His contractor said WAIT, WAIT and nothing else. Having personally seen this situation, I am a little concerned. Why would you be concerned in asking infosys to disclose the usage of H1bs procurred by them?? If its used properly there shouldn't be any issue. Now how microsoft uses the H1b is more transparent. How many of u working for microsoft have had any issues???

Thats true..everybody are bothered about EAD and FP. I am here for more than 8 years in this country. IV should emphasise this and USICS should allow affected candidates like us to file I-485 and atleast get EAD. we have priority date earlier compared to others.

If you had gotten a chance to file 485 you too would be discussing about EAD and AP... I came to US in 95.., filed my first Labor in 2000... got laid off in 01... started my labor process with 2nd company... the company shut down!! filed 3rd labor in 2003... All this time the 485 was current all the way till sept 30th 2005... But I was stuck in PBEC... Labor cleared 1 week after retrogression in 2005! Finally filed in June 07... got GC 3 days after finger printing! thats life... you just do what you have to do and move on!

Filed at NSC on Jul 21st. Received as per FedEx receipt on Jul 23rd. Transferred I-485s, EADs and APs applications from NSC to CSC.
Received EADs and APs on Sept 25th from CSC.
Sept 18th notice received that I-485s have been moved back from CSC to NSC.
Rceipt date for transfer notice is Sept 18th. Dont see my actual Jul 23rd date anywhere.
When I posted this on , posters suggested that there is a "Receipt Notice" versus a "Transfer Notice".
My lawyer received the receipt notice. Will check with him about the Receipt date on that notice and post later today.
Any other ideas what this all means would be appreciated.

Seems like everyone losing hope including core - as someone else said above its really sad to see this. Please dont lose hope at this critical moment else all of our efforts for last two years will go waste.
I cant imagine how much time/effort has been put into this effort by core members (as a relatively inactive member I myself could have easily spent several hundred hours on these forums in last year and half; and atleast some time in calling/faxing etc.). After all these efforts and seeing the current bill its understandable to get deeply disappointed. But dont lose hope yet. Its not over.

All of us were also thinking that we are in a better position to introduce and enact amendments in this congress. We still have time (2 weeks) for amendments - why are we thinking about alternate arrangements and slowly losing hope. Does this show our level of confidence now or this thread is meant for some light hearted fun?

I think this law puts an enormous burden on us to prove we are here legally. If for any reason we are stopped for speeding, the law allows the cop to ask us to prove we are here legally. technically, he is supposed to verify this with USCIS, but we know how efficient they are! Also the average cop probably has no idea what EAD/ Adjustment of status etc etc are and this can land us into trouble, atleast until we prove that we are here legally!.
Not only is legislative reform for legal immigrants held hostage by illegals and their lobbies, but actions directed against them are likely to entrap some of us into trouble with the law.

In Quebec, if you cant speak French, you are frowned upon. Yeah, yeah i can hear the Montrealers saying they speak both French and English, but the reality is that Quebec only likes people who are French. I heard some racist remarks while walking in the downtown, not uncommon. For some ignoramuses, every colored person is a "bangladeshi" and hurl racist abuses. I was very shocked to say the least...Isolated incident, but not uncommon.
Bottomline, if you wanna life like u had in the US, better Ontario than Quebec or even BC.

I got LUDs on 2/10 on both mine and my wife's 485. My wife got an RFE email on 02/13. I do not know what this means either...

TB test needs min of 48 hrs to be read and if positive, you HAVE to do a chest x-ray. the immunizations are ok.
get her here on the next flight and get the medical done nxt week.
i had my medical on june 26 and i had to literaaly storm the office of the doctor to get my report done, and i mailed to my attorney......oh i can never forget that day!! it was a race against time. and am glad its over.

A colleague/friend of mine and his wife decided to have a home delivery. So, they contacted this nurse practitioner/midwife, who used to come to his home once a month and do all the stuff that goes along with pregnancy. They also delivered the baby at his home, which took off all the expense that are associated with a hospital delivery and I'm pretty sure the entire cost for the 9 month term was <5K (actually around 2-3K).
But I believe that was possible because it was a normal delivery with no complications.
So, if you and your wife are in the same situation as most of the people here (i.e. late 20's or early to mid 30's ) there is no reason why you would not have a normal uncomplicated delivery. So having a home delivery is an option.
I am a father of a 15 month old and felt that most of the months that we went to visit the doctor was pretty superficial. They did not tell us anything which you cannot find out from the internet or the maternity books. Who delivered my daughter in the hospital? Well a nurse did.
Also in India my wife told me that most often women don't go to the doctor unless there are issues. (For the period leading up to the delivery. For delivery they go to the doctor.)
So, for uncomplicated deliveries a home delivery could be an option, just check it out and the nurse practitioners (OBGYN variety)/midwives are fully qualified and sometimes more experienced than the doctors as that is ALL they do, they deliver babies.
So check this option if you feel it is OK.
Good luck with your insurance search.

Then changed employer with AC21 who does not have insurance, so bought individual insurance. Until now I have not realized that being in a group insurance is such a great benefit. But I am exploring options and I expect some thing will come out.
I am not yet under panic mode and have so many good frineds at IV. That is a great moral support, at least I believe.
