Other things that we can do to create a buzz around it is to talk about it in blogs, various forums etc., specially if you are a blogger. Already, if you search USCIS+Flowers in Technorati, there are a good number of hits - we should try and increase them.
Call up your local public radio station and tell them about this event (http://www.npr.org/stations/)
Any other ideas regarding increasing the visibility of this campaign should be posted on this thread.

thanks for taking the initiative and donating again manish1905. It is sad to see only a few 100 'active. Most people want to see results before donating, but most don't realize we can't get results without thousands working first for many months.
So its up to us to work extra hard to achieve things that will benefit 500,000 people.
Things like Visa Recapture, which benefit 100s of thousands benefit everyone including EB3, as there are only about 40-60,000 EB2s left.

Agree with mostly what you have said. Question still remains what causes people not to contribute even 20$ now while in the past they have contributed 50 , 100 or even more. Just something to think about.
I disagree. Changes in laws do not happen overnight and any efforts that core is making cannot be made public all the time. If they can get thousands of people the benefit of moving to EAD etc. then I am sure they are working behind the scenes to get more favorable changes done when the time is right. I have faith in their ability.
Moreover since I am not actively volunteering in any activities the least I can do is contribute. So I call on everyone to contribute for your cause - none of us is doing anyone a favor by contributing. We are DIRECTLY favoring us by making a contribution.

Is it possible for an administrative fix at the USCIS where the H-1B worker doesn't fall out of status immediately on losing his/her job? Or would such a provision require a law to be passed by the Congress?
A grace period of say 3 months to look for a job, or to pack up and leave, would relieve the pressure on the laid off H-1B worker and reduce incidents of system abuse.
If this can be done at the USCIS, perhaps we can write to the Obudsman and also to the USCIS director/associate directors. This is an important issue in this economy. I will be happy to draft a letter.
Good intention but this type of information by telling legislators actually hurts the cause. You want people to remain in USA but not complying with the visas.
Pre 9/11 when the economy was slowing down and there were layoffs; there was a memo from uscis that they would be lenient in transfer cases (give a period of a couple of months without paystubs). However; everything changed in 2002/2003 when INS went to 0 tolerance policy (ashcroft had a press conference saying this). That is when things started to change. The memo has since been rescinded (ie., zero tolerance policy).

I have recently been talking to members who have already filed I485 and have used AC21 to change jobs. I noted some limitations people face while changing jobs, getting higher salaries, making use of AC21 for changing more than 1 job.. etc etc.

There are several restrictions/constraints for many ppl for not being able to devote time/money for the general cause. Let's not fret about the reasons. While it would help for all ppl to join forces that should not distract the group that is doing something about the issues.
And ppl on the sidelines - pls don't be a passive professional critique. However valuable your comments and ideas are they are useless without acting upon it - they are just like seeds sown in a barren land. The good work of the forum will continue without your presence. With your involvement we all can reach the goal that much more faster.
My Labor certification is actually filed in the state of IL. But i am on an assignment in MD till Sep 2010 (after filing for relevant amendments).
It's ~5 hrs drive for me to Baltimore/Washington-DC. So, coming every week for a meeting is not practical. I am extremely eager to support OUR cause given the commuting constraints. I have already written to our congress man here to bring to his notice the struggles of wannabee immigrants.
So, where do i sign up?
