Please wait and watch for couple of months. You can keep writing to congressmen, ombudsman, push for visa recapture in lame ducks, ask for more transparency into the process but please don't send any flowers now and try to embarrass any govt organization directly. We don't know what effect its going to have.Instead go through the Ombudsman to voice your concerns. Finally, please get the consent of core IV before you attempt this.
We really, really want EB2/3-I folks, especially those who have been waiting for 5 years or more, to get out of this gc process as painlessly as possible.
Hi, just matter of curiosity. You have total 4 posts out of them 3 are in this thread and Joined recently. I must appreciate your knowledge about forum including core etc. Must be pretty smart guy (or gal I don't know).
Nice to see such a smart person.

i agree with retrohatao
it is pretty much useless to fight for ending tetrogression when we know we are going to get stuck in name check for 2-3 years after that
infact i am hoping and praying that the EB relief bill does not pass until my name check has been cleared...as i will not be able to use the available visa numbers .
the name check issue is a big big problem.
trust me...if we dont include it right now....2 years from now...all of us will be forming a new web site with Name check as the primary issue...

It is not end of the world. But end of the economy as we know it. People smarter than me and you have said this is turning into an armageddon.
Armageddon or not, smart or fool, time will tell. My view is recession yes, outside chance of a depression. Armageddon...........not really.
Interesting thing is Berkshire stock is up while all this is going on. Gives you an idea how much high regard people have for its balance sheet, Buffet and Co. stock picking prowess and his 30 plus billion cash war chest at this time.

With all the porting nonsense going on eb2 will move backward and eb3 will inch forward slowly. We might end up with eb2 and eb3 in 2002. congrats to all the people who ported, the only thing you accomplished is you made sure eb2 does not progress (it does not mean you have have moved forward by porting, it just means that you have made sure you have prevented original eb2 guys from getting green card), the people who ported wont gain any benefit but they will make it worse for everyone, they have to file a second i140 which will take at least another 1 year to clear and after 1 year when the ported 140's clear the eb2 will go back to 2002. You have also accomplished another great feat, DOL is going to make it impossible to file eb2 in IT jobs so even genuine people are screwed. Before people start giving red dots and justifying there porting I have an message for you, your behavior is no different from the people who did labor substitution, the end result was DOL ended labor substitution and the result of all this porting is DOL has made it impossible to get eb2 even for genuine cases. Just because others are doing it does not mean you can do it, obviously it is wrong therefore dol removed labor substitution and now dol is making it impossible to get eb2 for IT jobs even for genuine cases. 90 % of people doing this porting are desi consulting employees, they wine and complain about desi consulting companies as blood suckers (justifiably) but they themselves are bloodsuckers on the EB2 community by doing this eb3 to eb2 porting.
stop crying, our real problem is unfair country quota & retrogression. Help IV fight for our common goals.
I can't help but think about this story after reading your post.
A fox, upon failing to find a way to reach grapes hanging high up on a vine, retreated and said: "The grapes are sour anyway!" The moral is stated as "It is easy to despise what you cannot get". ;)

You did not submit because it was ok for you. I know people who got RFE asking for employment proof.
It might be case that their case numbers were associated with firms who were sponsored initially by 'desi' consulting. Hence more rigorous checks for them. I didn't submit employment letter. I wasn't even ASKED for one. None of the questions in form asked for employer name. None of the mail-in items included employer letter either.

D. EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE VISA AVAILABILITY FOR SEPTEMBER
Due to the return of unused July numbers by consular posts abroad, and the limited amount of pending demand eligible for final processing at consular posts, it has been possible to reestablish cut-off dates in many of the Employment preference categories.
Please link it.

We won't know unless we try. Don't be discouraged by skeptics, they do serve a purpose by making us think from all angles.
So please, if you can please this to local media and hope someone will take note of it.

Not relevent to immigration, but, It is important for us to hold job. A lot of bleeding happening in financial segment and our jobs may be at risk.
These bailouts has been described by Professor Nouriel Roubini as "privatization of profit and socialization of losses" (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/US_govt_spends_900b_to_take_over_failing_cos/articleshow/3495793.cms). I think communists are as "socialization of profits as well as losses".
My couple of friends are expert in FIX (Financial Information eXchange) and were asking me to move in that area. Now, I am not sure to put it on hold or entirely shelve it. But this is just an idea, how we could be affected by this downturn and priorities can change.

Some questions to those who are supporting country cap.
Why not put a country cap on foreign students visas since many of them get into the green card line eventually?
Why not put a country cap on H1B visas since many of them get into the green card line eventually?
Why not put a country cap on labor certifications?
Why not put a country cap on I-140s?
Why not impose a country cap at the port of entry?
Why not put a country cap on visitors visas?
Why not put a country cap on business visas?
Why not put a country cap on US trade with other countries?
Why not put a country cap on amount of US $ reserves that each country can have?
Why not put a country cap on children that foreigners in the US can bear?
Why not put a country cap on the foreigners earnings in the US?
.
.
.
And the list can go on.
Putting country cap on greens cards serves a hidden racist agenda of not letting the people of one particular ethnic group grow in number and become strong.
Big question:
Why not put a country cap on the CIR for all undocumented?
What are the reasons for not doing that?
Lawmakers give a rationale of diversity as the reason for country caps. Why is the reason for diversity not relevant for undocumented? I am sure there are undocumented from all countries and not just one country?

Old wine tastes good. Does this VB tastes good to you?
Yes.
Why not.
VB is the only item that keeps many to survive for the next 30 days.
Green card applicants started losing hope and dying slowly for 15 days. Then they become like a phenix birds for next 15 days, hoping that something will be there in next VB.
This cycle will go for next several generations....
We should be proud that we are going to be in history.
In 2050 school kids in US will study about "how a several thousands stuipds spent their whole lives, waited for something that never happened"

USCIS has released a press release July 23, 2007. Check QUESTION 13
http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/EBFAQ1.pdf
Yes, but it does not mention EVL. If USCIS mentions the EVL in another press release, that would be the ideal scenario, but probably won't happen.
