The problem with this guy is he has got his GC and now he doesn't want anybody to have it. Basically he enjoys when people are having of pain. That's the reason he doesn't want any progress in PD's. Dude, if you don't like if people are talking about positve things such as "PD becomes Current" then my humble request to you is just stay-out of any converstations.

Hi,
I have a EAD L2 Based valid till 2009. I havent worked in US till now after getting EAD. Now I have to travel to India for a Month. What will be the procedure to retain my EAD after I come back to US after 30 day.
Please Guide Me

you dont have to do anything. Based on your L2 petition you will get an I-94
valid till 2009. Since your EAD is unexpired, you can continue working once you come back. EAD is authorization to work, completely unrelated to your travel to India and back. What exactly are you worried about?

Impact of rule 2 will be minimal and that rule will be really used not to displace
US workers if that is the purpose. If companies are not really displacing US workers why should they bother about this rule? This rule will certainly minimise the outsourcing by laying off people as H1b persons are required for offshore co-ordination.
Rule 3 is putting ad that is just like a Labor process in green card. It will delay h1b hiring for a month and really impact will be minimal
Those 2 rules are worth if companies can get best people in the world(that was the intention of H1b program. That is what Google and Microsoft are arguing)
With the restrictions we are getting 115 to 180k H1bs. If there is some plan for clearing backlog for gc then we can very well support CIR

Everybody stands in one single queue......one line not five lines......one line my friend, irrespective of your nationality. so if you wait 2 years, or 2 hours..I wait the same. Unlike NOW, where some people wait 5-8 years and others 1-2 years.
I think what USCIS can do in order to achieve your "fair play" is they will start to put country limit on H-1B also and then cut off date show up for some countries for H-1 applications(PS: unused quota can't go to oversubscribed countries at 4th quarter). In this case, years later, there's no need for specific country bulletins for EB.
The current case is over 50% of H-1B issued to Indian and Chinese every year. And that is why now most people here are waiting.

Having worked for short periods of time in Germany and Netherlands, I would say that they very much make you feel that you are a foreigner, you can never fit in and are most unwelcome in the country. What irked me is the attitude that they will take your money gladly but don't want you there.
In fact when I was looking for accomodation in Stuttgart the first thing the landlords asked me was "When are you going to leave?".
The US may have it's faults, but I've never been asked that question by property owners, only by consulate officers.

We are perceived to pose a threat to the well-being of their children and they do have a sense of entitlement just because they happened to come here earlier. Can't change that attitude. We can also see that in some people who haven't yet got their green cards or are newly minted resident "aliens". E.g. Entitlement due to Master's degree from US, Consultants vs FTE, Desi company consultants vs American company consultants etc. Did we ever stop and think that the system does not even need to play "Divide and Conquer" in a house already divided?
I frankly think that to an average joe in the US all of us are just another brown guy or chinaman etc. (apologies to the non Asian members of IV) and we don't need to feel that we are somehow superior to the other immigrant.

While many are the way you described, no two persons are alike, and there are many great people in this country who see us as individuals and love us for who we are. Overall, it is better if this bill dont pass:
1. It makes LC very very difficult
2. It brings illegals who apply infront of legals who apply after the bill passes. So, the backlog will be infinite.
So, in all maybe it is better if this bill fails. It is good for illegals and bad for legals.

are you aware of the fact that IEEE actually lobbied to get a special quota of H1B for US-educated folks? these folks are foreigners and will definitely be competing against these "racist" ppl. Because of their principled stand, they continue to have clout.

Not everyone visit this site. So any extrapolation won't make any sense. The idea is not to take polls but is that someone take up our issue, investigate and spread our message.
The message is simple, you got the people with right stuff, standing in the line. Their wait is neither good for them nor good for anyone else.

I don't think any July 2 cases are rejected,
They are still processing June end filers and would not have reached July 2nd cases even today, My understanding is that even in case of rejection, they enter the name in the system for tracking purposes.
Also when i called them on July 3rd they said all application received from July 2nd are on hold.
So don't worry guys!! :)

Mirage, thanks a ton for taking this up and for amc for providing some very thoughtful analysis on the whole thing. I also appreciate the very critical comments from folks like senthil et. el. No more crossing into USA just based on saying you are a Citizen (oral declaration).
Starting from January 31, 2008 (two weeks from now), all citizens must carry passport or other kinds of acceptable ID's to enter into US border. This is also applicable US and Canadian citizen.
Following are acceptable documents/ID's for US/Canada citizens ages 19 and older.
1. USA, Canada passports
2. US passport card (available in the spring)
3. Trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST
4. Secure driver's license
5. US military ID
6. US Merchant Mariner document
7. One of several IDs issued to Native Americans
So, proof of citizenship will be required for entry.
As usual, all other citizen must carry all required documents.

Guys, this looks good. It is NOT for illegal aliens. Paragraphs (c) and (d) state that the alien must be admissible as an immigrant (i.e. not have broken the law by being an illegal), read paragraph (d) here:
"(d) Security and Law Enforcement Clearances- The alien, if over 15 years of age, shall submit fingerprints in accordance with procedures established by the Secretary of Homeland Security. Such fingerprints shall be submitted to relevant Federal agencies to be checked against existing databases for information relating to criminal, national security, or other law enforcement actions that would render the alien ineligible for adjustment of status under this section. The Secretary of Homeland Security shall provide a process for challenging the accuracy of matches that result in a finding of ineligibility for adjustment of status."
Read the "or other law enforcement actions that would render the alien ineligible for adjustment of status under this section"....so, anyone who broke the law by entering the country illegally would NOT be eligible.
So, stop sending those letters opposing this bill, and instead let's support it!!
