Not that I believe the rumor, but the phone being LTE only will simply mean that there's one version between the AT&T and verizon phones that supports CDMA and GSM networks. Instead, there will be a CDMA/LTE phone and a GSM 3G phone. Thus, AT&T's LTE network being infantile/non-existent throws a wrench in that.

That being said, I highly doubt an early 2011 verizon iphone. LTE, doubly so. If it's coming for Verizon, it will be unveiled/launch the same time as the AT&T iphone 5.

You won't be able to make phone calls in that house. And then Steve will release youtube videos showing how nobody can make phone calls from their houses, either. ;)

Excuse my ignorance, but does an OS that runs lil' apps on a poxy hand-held computer scale up to run full-blown applications (think FCS) on a multi-core, heavy-hardware computer?

Linux ring a bell ? ;) Linux runs on everything and does just fine (be it the lowly SoC based embedded system using a BusyBox userspace or that massive supercomputing cluster built with thousands of nodes).

OS X and iOS already share a lot of internals. It's mostly in the userspace where the differences lie.

Hey knock it off with all the off topic Windows drivel. Winrumors forums would be a better place to dispute these matters.

Slight UI tweaks aren't a big topic pool to draw from.

If it's just Disney, then there's not much point. The reason iTMS succeeded from the start was that it was simple and it had the largest library from which you could purchase single songs. If the iTunes Movie store starts with just Disney movies, then it's dead in the water. Let's just hope that ThinkSecret is wrong again, as usual.

It's a start. What's tricky is the execution itself. Other studios will join the bandwagon like they did with music store.

Why did Apple do away with live feeds of the event? That seems like a good idea. What are they trying to avoid?

    How about no thanks.

another thing people should keep in mind is...why release all new products at one event when you can stagger the release and keep interest over a longer period of time.

i.e macbook pro updates are coming, just like most of things people want (although SOME of the things some people want are just downright crazy), but it wont happen at once, and its gonna take a while!

It's not only new territory, it's outside their core competency. Like Cisco selling cameras or Google selling phones.

Its this closed minded view that separates risk taking leaders from regular employees.

To prove this, all one has to do is look at Apple's success in portions of the tech sector that they previously had not occupied.

    Never say never :)

I'd much rather have a slightly bigger screen (mostly for less "dead" space) than performance improvements, when I'm happy with current performance. WTF do you people do on your phones anyway...??

So same system but without the down vote button at all?

    arn

Yes, I think that would be better as well if we're going to have ratings.

I think a purely numerical system will just encourage all of the negative aspects of the ratings system.

New Intel towers could have made a good time for new displays too... but there's another good time coming up: new displays might come alongside Leopard, with higher DPI and full resolution-independent GUI?

Meanwhile, price drops are nice :)

Adding those decreased time for other things, ideally World History and American History would be 1.5 years. JFK gets summarized as the first Catholic to get elected to president, led the disastrous Bay of Pigs and then got shot, ignoring the Peace Corps and the Space Program. John Hinckley Jr. isn't in the textbooks at all, IIRC he tried to kill Reagan and there was something about Jodi Foster

I have no idea what experience you are speaking from, but it isn't universal.

I assure you that in the junior high, high school, and college classes I took, Hinckley was mentioned, JFK may or may not have been described as a Catholic, and Jodi Foster wasn't even popular yet.

What's hilarious is that you guys are arguing about beta software and a product that, up until this point, has been a huge disaster. Asking someone to rotate a raw image 180 degrees with a straightening tool is absurd. It isn't meant to do that. End of story.

I am not sure how many of you are professional photographers, but I can tell you that most of us have tried both products and are still using what works best: Iview media pro and C1 Pro (as well as photo mechanic for iptc info in batches). All 3 products have been around forever, and work flawlessly. What's comical, is that running all 3 of those apps concurently, is faster than running only aperture on my powerbook G4, as well as on my Mac Pro.

Aperture is a pig even on a shiny new mac pro compared to C1 and Iview. Lightroom just doesn't feel complete, and to be frank, the way the program is laid out is annoying as hell when you need to get things done quickly (like when filing from a football game, on deadline while sorting through 1000+ shots). It takes all day just to even get them imported into aperture, while I view does it in about 2 minutes. In 2 minutes, I can be choosing selects and sepertating the wheat from the chaff. This is not the case with either aperture or lightroom.

    Really its not brain surgery.

    Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, XP (5.0), Vista (6.0), Windows 7 (7.0).

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that Windows 7 is actually version 6.1.

    v1: Windows 1.0
    v2: Windows 2.0
    v3: Windows 3.x, Windows NT 3.1
    v4: Windows 95 (4.0.x), Windows NT 4 (also 4.0.x), Windows 98 (4.1.x), Windows ME (4.9)
    v5: Windows 2000 (5.0.x), Windows XP (5.1.x), Windows XP 64-bit (5.2.x)
    v6: Windows Vista (6.0.x), Windows 7 (6.1.x)

Don't ask me why--seems a bit illogical to me. Especially since, at some point, they'll likely have a v7.x and it will likely create additional confusion.

Wikipedia has a little more detail on this:
There has been some confusion over naming the product Windows 7, while versioning it as 6.1 to indicate its similar build to Vista and increase compatibility with applications that only check major version numbers, similar to Windows 2000 and Windows XP both having 5.x version numbers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

[Humanity] has a very long history of common people being subject to the will & whim of the rich & powerful & connected.
    FTFY.

The USA exists precisely because some of those common people got tired of such treatment and made it clear they would do with their land what they saw fit.
You're just making history up. There is no allodial title to land in US law. There is no allodial title to land in Californian law. Where Jobs is and where I am, all land belongs to the government. Independence was from the British Crown, and while the US and/or its states might have had the opportunity to create absolute property ownership, today you have no recognition by the US and only a couple of states even considering it.

How [the past] gets in the way of the present & future.
There's enough space. But the eloquence of your argument would have been improved if you'd just quoted policy straight from 1984 :D.

Maybe if your idea of "traditionally" ignores most of the last quarter-century or so...
AMD's 386 and 486 clones were always cheaper than Intel's, and they always at least matched the clock-for-clock performance of Intel's direct counterparts.
